4871.1 | Swapping may eat batteries | AZUR::HUREZ | Connectivity & Computing Services @VBE. DTN 828-5159 | Thu Mar 13 1997 11:14 | 10 |

If you're using the Hinote often on its own power, then you may get
into autonomy problems, as WNT swaps processes a lot, thus soliciting
the disk quite often... Make sure you have a large RAM to lower somehow
disk usage!
I'm not sure one can disable swapping; in the affirmative, it might be
an interesting alternative (still provided that you have enough memory).

| Also watch for the DEPCM (if you have that card), only recently has a
driver been announced for it...

| Thanks for the information.
I have indeed a DEPCM card and I will have to find this driver. Do you
have a pointer ?

| Check NOTED::ETHERWORKS note 1214.* for the gory details - there is
still an issue with rev levels, I believe. You'll find several pointers
to the actual kit there too.

4871.5 | Now the result | ULYSSE::LEFOL | | Thu Mar 27 1997 08:44 | 6 |
| I tried to upgrade to NT V4. The result is that the DEPCM PCMCIA
does not work. The Xircom PS2 works.
There is no available driver on NT V4 for the
Hinote screen which means that it uses the standard driver which does
not allow more than 16 colors. Despite these issues it works.

The Hinote Ultra II certainly works at >16 colours.

Which rev level is the card? - did you use the latest drivers kit from
NOTED::ETHERWORKS?
