| ACMS Desktop's release cycle has primarily followed
the ACMS release cycle, which in turn follows the
OpenVMS release cycle, which ranges from 6-12 months
depending on functionality delivered etc. Looking
over the last four release dates, 12 months is the
average release cycle.
Regarding Visual Basic V5.0 (VB5) support....Although VB5
may of been released during the Desktop V2.3 for OpenVMS
release cycle, the committment for V2.3was to support 32 bit
VB4 and if time permitted support VB5. Unfortunately time
constraints and customer support issues prevented the VB5
support work from occurring during the V2.3 release cycle.
VB5 support will be considered for the next release currently
in requirements planning phase. If you need VB5 support sooner
or have any specific support issues regarding VB5 or other layered
products, you may want to direct them to the Desktop product manager,
Jerry Hershey. Email: TPSYS::HERSHEY in order that they be given
the proper attention.

| Recently Tom used VB5 to reproduce a VB4 related problem and
achieved the expected VB4 behaviors using Desktop V2.3.
In short, VB5 may work without additional helper DLL support
requirements, however more testing of VB5 would be necessary
before official support is available. If there is urgency
to do so, please forward the need to product manager Jerry Hershey.
