This is to alert folks of a pending situation that may affect DCE
customers. There is a set of patches for Digital UNIX V4.0, V4.0a, and
V4.0b known internally as "BL6" but does not have an official patch
number yet (anticipated to be released in several weeks). Included in
this is a fix to pthread_once() to no longer use the global mutex. This
change causes DCE UNIX V2.0a to hang, usually on startup. However, our
ECO 1 for DCE V2.0a, which is already available, will fix this problem.
Thus, if a customer installs the "BL6" patches and is running DCE, they
need to run our ECO 1 for DCE V2.0a (DCEECO1A020).
Someone will add a reply when the official patch number for "BL6"
is out.
