Does anyone know the "Official" word on when v2.0a (with DFS) will be completely supported on Digital UNIX v4.0b? One of my largest customers has made a decision to go with v4.0b with their newest 8400 cluster and they will require C2 and DCE with DFS. They are expecting delivery of the h/w in early June. I need to give them an answer by early next week. With this order they will be up to 14 8400's with the potential of at least doubling this number if we can get DCE and DFS up to spec. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Scott Fafrak [email protected]

Does Digital support DCE v2.0a on v4.0b of Digital UNIX? Does everything that the spd and supplied documentation says works with DCE v2.0a work under Digital UNIX v4.0b? When DFS is installed does the kernel recompile without dumping -- and when the kernel does recompile, does DFS work as advertised? We have had NUMEROUS problems getting DCE v2.0a to work at my customer site which I will not go into here, needless to say, when I go back to the customer and say, "DCE v2.0a works on Digital UNIX v4.0b" -- it MUST work! This customer spends millions of dollars on equipment each year -- and although I am not in Sales, I would like to see that money go to Digital and not IBM, HP, or SUN. Not to mention, I am tired of getting beat up at the customer site because of things that we (Digital) say works -- that are riddled with bugs! So, is DCE v2.0a supported on Digital UNIX v4.0b? If not, when? Thank you. Scott Fafrak Sr. S/W Consultant & UNIX Partner Western Area NSIS PS. If you would like to take this offline, page me: 800-759-8888 pin 1897175 | |||||
