Is the DCE/DFS V2.1 still scheduled for August 97? Is OSF R1.2.2 out ? Can we expect to have EDFS features in Digital DCE V2.1? which ones? Thanks, Janine

DFS has recently transferred from the base-os to DCE. With a steep learning curve ahead of us, we are not ready to announce any schedules at this time. Thanks, Jeff

re: -1 > DFS has recently transferred from the base-os to DCE. I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Could you explain? Thanks, Janine

re: -1 DFS was originally being developed as part of the base UNIX OS group. Recently, responsibility for DFS transferred to the DCE group - an organization distinct from the base UNIX OS group, albeit in the same parent organization (UNIX Systems Business, under Tim Yeaton now). Thus, as Jeff points out, it is premature to announce schedules for new versions of DFS. You may be assured, however, that DFS is getting significant attention at the moment. We do realize the importance of a complete DCE offering, and recognize that DFS is an critical component for some customers. regards Colin |
