26.33 | Toastmasters | ASDG::NHARVEY | | Wed Apr 23 1997 09:47 | 26 |
|
Is there anyone reading this note who would like to improve their
speaking and presentation skills? We have a Toastmasters club here
in HLO that could help you. We meet every Tuesday at 12:00 pm. for
one hour of speaking practice.
The meetings are broken up into different segments. We have a
member introduce the "word for the day". Another member may tell a
joke. We have up to three people a week give speeches. The topic
for the speeches is unlimited. There are manuals with goals for each
speech explained in detail. For instance, one speech may emphasize
body language. Another speech may have a goal of using vocal variety.
If you are interested in knowing more about Toastmasters and what
our club can do for you please send me mail. People who work at
facilities other than HLO are welcome to come and visit and/or join.
People at HLO are welcome to come and see what it is all about. See
if it is something that could help your work-related presentations.
We meet each Tuesday:
WILDWOOD Conference Room
HLO1-JO5 - Near the HLO1 cafeteria and nurses station

26.34 | Serenity meeting at HLO | ASDG::NHARVEY | | Wed Apr 23 1997 11:37 | 22 |
|
Each Wednesday at noon time there is a meeting we call "Serenity"
that takes place here at HLO. We get together each week behind closed
doors and talk about anything that might be on our minds. Whatever is
discussed at this meeting stays at the meeting.
The American Dream doesn't happen for everybody. Crosby,
Stills and Nash sang about this dream. "...two cars in the yard...life
used to be so hard...now everything is easy because of you." If the
American Dream is money and finding that "someone" who makes everything
"easy" I have certainly missed the boat.
We talk about relationships, addictions, whatever. If you
would like to join us we meet each Wednesday:
Babbage CR
HLO2-3 Pole N9
This conference room is booked for us until June 25. If the
location changes, I will post the new location here. Bring your lunch!
