| E,
My grandfather was a very active father of two in his 70's. He died at
the age of 93, after seeing both children through HS, and the older
daughter through most of a degree in marine biology. Until a stroke
when Harry (youngest son) was a senior, he was active in participation.
Now if you are talking about how much energy or tossing a football or
something like that is selfish, then is it selfish for my friend with
MS to have had a child, knowing that she might be wheel-chair bound
before that child was 15? She became wheelchair dependant when Lauren
was 12. Is it selfish for Christopher Reeves and his wife to talk
about having another child? He is disabled, and his life may well be
short, as many quadraplegics are.
Is it selfish to have children period? My life could be cut short any
day by whatever the alien in my guts is that we can't track down. I
already have three children who were born before this happened. My
sister's best firends mom was vegetated at the ripe age of 30 (her
daughter was 10, and there were two younger children.) Was she
selfish, becaus you can't predict life?

| You take your chance. My parents had me and within 2 years my father
was killed. The only advice I can give is, "choose your parents
wisely."
Jamie.
