1208.0. "New type of video monitor..." by ASDG::SBILL () Fri Jan 31 1997 15:12
Just saw a new thing on the Web people in this conference might find
interesting. A company called Projectavision will be making a new kind
of TV based on TI's Digital Light Processing technology. It'll be a
combination rear-projection front projection set. It comes with a 60"
cabinet for rear projection. You pull the projector out, take off a
lens and you have a front projection unit. It will be able to handle SVGA
as well as NTSC video. I wasn't able to find out for sure if they are using
the 1-chip or 2-chip DMD engine though. I think it's the 2-chip.
Quite expensive though, the first ones will cost in the neighborhood of
$8-10k. From what I read it'll be available around March (I don't know
where though). Maybe they'll come down to my price range when I'm ready
for a new set. Sounds really cool, I hope it works as advertised.
