    TPU any version

    Customer is using TPU/EVE DECwindows interface and uses the [F20] 
    key (BUFFER LIST) to list the filenames.  He uses long file names
    (approx 40 characters) and does not like the format as the filenames
    are crowded.  Is there any way to change/influence this behavior?

    He uses "DIR /WIDTH=FILENAME=40" to perform better formatted 
    directories, but looking for equivalent for TPU?

    Sorry if this seems too simple...

	Eve lays its messages out using the OpenVMS message facility. This includes the "message" that creates each line of the BUFFER LIST. See sys$examples:eve$show.tpu, the routine eve$$bufed_format_line I would suggest that the customer try to either modify this or play with setting the EVE$X_BUFED_BUFFER_NAME_LENGTH to something other than 24 (which its cut off to put the name and attributes on different lines). Maybe a line in an eve$init.eve file saying tpu eve$x_bufed_buffer_name_length:=40 would work. Hmm, now many years since I've worked on that project?? Brian J.
