579.0. "Swedish song title translations, please" by QUINCE::MADDEN (Icke rkare.) Wed Mar 22 1995 14:47

While I was in Stockholm last month, I picked up a CD by a Swedish rock
group. While I'd like to translate the lyrics myself, someday, after
learning the language, I was wondering if somebody could please
translate the song titles to English for me:

    1. Vandraren
"Wanderer", I already got this one
    2. Under Norrskenet
    3. nnu Glder Solen
    4. Vill Ha Mer
    5. D Syns Du Inte Mer
    6. Frlist
    7. Laglst Land
    8. Och Regnet Fll
    9. Nu Lever Sommaren
    10. Stormens ga
    11. Om Hon Vill Det Sjlv
    12. Strmkarlen
    13. Locklt
    14. I Midsommartid

(N.B. the group is Nordman, and "Vandraren" apparently won a Swedish
    grammy last month).

    Tack!

    I'll give this a try:

    2. Under northern lights (_aurora borealis_)
    3. The sun still shines
    4. Will (you) have more
    5. You are seen no more (gone from sight)
    6. (Ship)wrecked, foundered
    7. Lawless country
    8. And the rain [did something...came?]
    9. Now summer is here
    10. The eye of the storm
    11. ?? - a wild guess: She's beside herself
    12. Currentman (??)
    13. Overtones (??)
    14. At midsummer (festival) time

    Some corrections:

    3. The sun still glows
    4. I want more
    8. And the rain fell
    11. If she wants it herself
    12. Mythical figure, also called "Ncken", a naked man who sits
in a river, or creek, playing a fiddle.
    13. "Locka" means entice, lure. "Lt" is tune, song.

So a free translation might be something like "siren song"?
