310.0. "Scandinavian Library & Information Center, Newton, MA" by TLE::SAVAGE () Mon Oct 10 1994 14:51

"a place to connect with the Scandinavian Community"

The Scandinavian Library and Information Center was founded by the
Nordic Women's Network. This was made possible thanks to the Swedish
Charitable Society of Greater Boston (who run a Scandinavian nursing
home) which is providing the space free of charge. The Library is
organized as a non- profit organization established to benefit the
Scandinavian community in particular and the New England Public in
general. The library is looking for donations of books, magazines,
maps, travel information etc. from all Nordic countries. There is a
coffee shop where Swedish/Norwegian waffers are served. Coming events
will include children's story hour, special literary and other cultural
    events.

The Center is also looking for volunteers. So if you have books (in any
of the Nordic languages or in English by Nordic authors) and you wish
to donate - or - if you wish to volunteer - or - if you wish to learn
about the opening hours to come and borrow a book, browse in a magazine
or chat over a cup of coffee - please call one of the following people:
Nina Pedersen (617)484-1029; Ullabritt Lam (508)263-8731; Astrid
    Carliner (617)332-3987; Heidi Hipple (617)862-5327.

If you wish to receive a complimentary copy of The Calendar (a listing
of events in New England of interest to the Nordic Community), please
    send your mailing address to:

    [email protected]

The coming issue of the Calendar also includes a Shopping Guide of
    stores that carry Nordic products.

    Regards,

    Yael Tagerud
