+------ The wit of [email protected] (Tony Matti Juhani Paso):
| For those concerned in the bad PR Sweden received with the JAS incident
| once again, there might be something to soothe your souls in the new
| issue of National Geographic. One of the main stories is about Sweden.
|
| Some parts of the article strengthened my previous stereotypes :
| 'To be average is good in Sweden, to be different is bad' or 'We're taught
| very early not to stand out from the crowd or risk making anyone un-
| comfortable'. Some parts broke previous misconceptions, for instance the
| bit about Gnosj|. Frankly, I didn't know you had it in you.
|
| Some parts brought an eerie feeling of deja vu. You could have replaced
| in many passages the word Sweden with Finland. Some parts made me
| congratulate us for not having the same problems.
+------
Exactly my feeling too. I read that article, and after 2 continous
years abroad I started feeling like home .. (Norway).
BTW: That article was pretty rough on Sweden..
+------
| Some of the info is bound to be a little embarassing for Sweden. Read the
| bits of the Sami and Swedish law.
+------
Yap; but it also said that there are 17000 Sami in Sweden!
Is that right? I thought there were only about 10000, as
compared to about 25000 in Norway..?
