If all works out, you'll soon have the swedish/swiss high-speed
train X2000. Amtrak is currently testing the train between
Boston-Washington and is according to the media here in Sweden
very satisfied with its performance. ABB hopes to sell 26 train
sets now, and hundreds later. In Sweden the X2000 is at the moment
operating on three lines: Stockholm-Goteborg, Stockholm-Karlstad
and Stockholm-Linkoping/Mjolby. The thing that sets X2000 apart from
its competitors is its unique ability to "tilt" in curves, thus
eliminating some of the centrifugal forces and making it possible
to go at high-speed on old tracks. This gives X2000 a competive
edge since railway companies don't have to invest heavily in new
tracks in order to have high-speed trains. It seems that X2000
has the potential of being a huge export success for Sweden. China
is also interested in X2000 and probably Germany as well.
