| Good luck with TWA. We just had fun getting our family home from Danmark for
the holidays. There connecting flight to Boston was Pan AM. Needless to
say that was cncelled and then TWA was going to honor their tickets but at
the last minute they would not honor any tickets after Dec 18th. FUN
We drove to Kennedy to pick them up Christmas Eve.
All came out well but I would not chance TWA. It is also suppose to file
for chapter 11 soon.

-< Fare war from US to Scandinavia >-
TWA, American Airlines, and at least one other carrier, are having a fare "war"
from now to the end of 1991. For instance, I will be flying from Boston to
Stockholm for $366 round trip.
Important restrictions are:
Buy before the end of this year, 1991.
You must travel January, February or March.
There are lots of other restrictions too, but along the more obvious lines like
no refunds. I had trouble getting the exact days I wanted from TWA since they
started selling routes off, but I took them to help support them and because I
have a packload of frequent flyer miles with them, and this trip will help me
tremendously (assuming they stay in business for another year).
So... I'll be adventuring around Stockholm 27 Feb through 4 March (excluding
travel days) in case anyone wants to say hej!

| Among the many factors contributing to airline demises are the self-fulfilling
prophecies of worried consumers. I intend to protect my investment with a cheap
$20 insurance package, and am prepared to deal with the hassles of being
stranded by a suddenly defunct TWA. Fortunately this flight is entirely TWA
which will simplify matters if your worry comes true. I, however, am hoping
they will survive for a few months more, if not decades.
Those interested in saving the insurance, plus a few more dollars, and peace of
mind could have purchased American Airlines tickets while the deal was being
offered.
Deals in the US will vanish entirely when US airlines are down to a small
handful. I hope Luftansa gets its request to start flying between US cities.
The more the merrier and the cheaper.
