Today, both Sweden and Iceland proceeded to the semi-finals of the 1991
Bermuda Bowl held in Yokohama, Japan, by beating Argentina and USA II,
respectively. As the two teams will meet in the semi-finals, the winner
of their game will meet the winner of Poland vs. Brazil. We look
forward to a nordic world champion (uh, may I suggest that it be
    Iceland...).

I just like to mention something that the Swedish bridge team members
were the greatest sports I ever recall having seen (I happened to be
one of the few witnesses). They all came as soon as the teams had
tallied the score and congratulated each of the winners. And did so
    cheerfully!

I think you Swedes can be proud of your men. All the luck to them for
    the third place.

I just heard that Iceland beat Poland this morning! World Champions!

I'm sure that Magnus, our local reporter in Japan, will fill us in on
    the details.

Iceland won the 1991 Bermuda Bowl, the world championship in bridge, in
Yokohama yesterday, with a convincing performance.

Hearing the Icelandic national anthem abroad for the first time was a
    moment to remember.

PS. The first 64 boards in the Iceland-Sweden match has been termed by
many as the best bridge played in the tournament. It's clear that
Nordic has firmly established itself as a home of bridge powerhouses.
