    DIS-Norge (Databehandling i Slektforskningen, that is Computers in
    Genealogic Research) are hereby very proud to announce the 5th Symposia
    on Computers in Genealogic Research. The symposia are going to be held
    at the 'Vest-Oppland Folkeho"gskole' at Brandbu on October 25-27, 1991. 
    The meeting will start at 1600 o'clock with registration of the meeting
    members.
 
    The fee will be totally NOK 1300 to be paid to Postal Giro Account
    0826.07.64750, DIS-Norge, pb. 47, N-1430 AAS by October 1st. Please
    also fill in and send in the paper which you will find at the end of
    this message.
 
    Lectures will include the following topics:
 
    GEDCOM (by Carl J. York, vendor of Family Edge).
 
    State of each of the Nordic DIS organizations.
 
    Ethics in genealogic research
 
    Genealogic Computer Central and registration standard in Oppland
    county.
 
    Minitel and Teledata, availability of genealogic databases and
    libraries for the hobby genealogy researcher in the future.
 
    IGI, now available on CD-ROM
 
    Nordic archive laws, implications for the genealogic researcher.
 
    A common genealogic database for Finnland, now a reality.
 
    Methods for genealogic information merging.
 
    Picture analysis and handling, uses for genealogic research
 
    MacIntosh, how to use it in genealogic research
 
    In connection with the program DISBYT, you are invited to add your
    data. Format should either be DISGEN files or GEDCOM files.
 
    We hope to include many demonstrations of programs and hardware usable
    for genealogic research.
 
    If you want to contribute with your registered data, please join. Maybe
    you find some distant relatives?
 
 
    Competition. There will be held a competition at the meeting. You may
    contribute in 3 different classes. 
 
    1. Best family book produced with aid of a computer.
 
    2. Most complete pedigree within 10 generations (proband is generation
    0) 
    
    3. Most complete descendant list within 10 generations (Proband is
    generation 0)

    Maybe next year there will be 5 or 6 DIS organizations? We really look
    forward to join a 'Symposia on Computers in Genealogic Research' on
    Iceland in the future.
