Hello, I was listening to a book program on the BBC World Service some time ago, when I heard John Banville talking about near-forgotten authors that have recently been rediscovered. He was speaking about the book and author Jan Peder Jacobson and Neils Luners - I'm sorry but I don't know who is the author and which is the name of the book. The author - whichever - was Danish, and his book has only recently been translated into English. Banville said that it was one of the best books that he'd read. Can anyone tell me anything about this book, if anyone has read it, and any other publishing details? (Cross-referenced to COLBIN::BOOKS conference.) - Paul

I've read it...although it was some years ago. I think the spelling that I know is Nils Lynne. It was a wonderful book. I believe the publisher was the American Scandinavian Foundation. I still have it and will check.

Refer to note 483. Its been awhile since I've written in notes. Anyway, If I remember correctly, one of the themes was a struggle between romanticism and realism. By the way, there is another book by the same author in translation called "Marie Grubbe". In note 483, I also guessed that the Publisher was The American Scandinavian Foundation. In this regard, the name Twayne come to mind.
