464.0. "work permit for Norway/Sweeden" by YUPPY::BLAKEB (Brendan Blake@hhl) Wed Apr 24 1991 08:31

    Hi,

    	I have got a friend who would like to work in Norway or Sweeden for
    the summer. This person has not got a work permit and does not know who
    to contact in Norway or Sweeden relating to summer work.

    	Can any one reading this point me in the right direction on how to
    get a work permit. What are the chances in getting a full working
    permit. Would the situation be different if a person was/is living
    with their spouse as common law wife/husband.

    	All help appreciated

    	regards
    		Brendan

464.1Contact your embassy.ELIS::BROWNWed Apr 24 1991 10:1121
    Brendan,

    I can't speak for Norway but I've been through the procedure for
    Sweden.

    What he needs to do is contact his local Swedish embassy. They'll
    provide him with the necessary information and the all important
    forms. The Swede's insist that the application for the permit must be
    made in the applicants country of residence prior to and he must have
    the necessary stamp in your passport before he goes to Sweden. It's no
    use him turning up in Sweden and applying for it there!

    Once he's submitted his forms, it can take quite a while for them
    to go through the mill (It took 3 months for mine and I had everything
    lined up in advance!); so apply early.

    If you want any other info, give me a ring on DTN 889-9325.

    Hope this helps,

    Pete

    If you want to apply for a work permit in Norway, you'll have to follow
    the process as described for Sweden. It's a lengthy process!!
