In Sweden:
Cinema:
All pictures are reviewed by the censorship board and rated. Pictures
are often released with a lower rating after editing. Pictures can be
banned. NOTE: Ratings and bannings only apply to PUBLIC cinemas, not
to so-called 'closed' viewings, such as featured by the popular
cinematic society (you have to be a member to get in - that's the
definition of 'closed viewing'). Explicitly forbidden are pornography
involving children or extreme violence.
Video:
No censorship so far, but it has been debated... There is now a
voluntary agreement between the state and the distributors not to
distribute videos that would be forbidden on public cinemas.
Books and papers:
Publish anything you want, but if you publish classifed military or
state material, you'll probably face trial.
