355.0. "Looking for more about Chapter 2 (Landgren & Norberg)" by CASEE::CLARK (Ward Clark) Sun Aug 06 1989 10:55

Thanks in part to this conference, my wife and I had a lovely two-week
    vacation in the Stockholm area.

My souvenirs were mostly in the form of recorded music. I just posted
a description of my prize discovery (Chapter 2) in the JAZZ Conference,
with the hope of finding out more about the artists. Please post any
responses in the JAZZ Conference, not here.

One of the best parts of my recent vacation is Stockholm was haunting
numerous record/CD stores (while my wife was off shopping or visiting
museums). I was in search of "Swedish music", whatever that turned out
    to be.

I discovered a real gem -- Chapter 2, a duo consisting of Nils Landgren
(trombone, trumpet & vocals) and Johan Norberg (guitars & vocals).
Their self-titled album was recorded in April '89 and is on Caprice
Records (CD # is 21375), which is "a department of the Swedish Concert
    Institute, Stockholm".

My best best description of their music is jazz/folk/blues/pop fusion.
It includes standards (My Funny Valentine, There Goes My Heart),
"recent" hit songs (Eleanor Rigby, Only Love Can Break Your Heart), and
original compositions. The mood is crisp, mellow, bouncy, sweet,
    beautiful, ...

The liner notes are very sketchy, with just song titles & composers and
a listing of the people who put it together. Perhaps a Swedish jazz
fan can tell us more about Nils and Johan.
