P R O G R A M
11 a.m.
The president of G�rds H�rad s association of home district friends Mrs
Maj-Lis Persson opens the proceedings.
The songs from the Old Country. Mrs Karin Jonsson, Rickarum, sings and
Mr Per Byrhult, Linder�d, plays.
Vasaorden of America; the president of Tomelilla'lodge, Mrs Karin
L�fstrand-Andersson, Br�sarp, greets you and tells you about the
Lodge.
The president of Emigrant Institute Friendship Society Mr Erik
Hovhammar, V�xj�, tells you about the society.
Professor Ulf Beijbom, president of The Swedish Institute of Emigrants,
V�xj�, speaks about "Swedish Emigration in perspective of 150 years".
Introduction of guests from abroad.
Mr �ke Kjellqvist speaks about "The Blacksmith boys from Rickarum and
the Adventurer Andrew Thorson from V� as frontierfolks in Scandian
Grove, Nicollet county, Minnesota".
1 p.m.
Lunchtime. Time to be together. Guided tour of the beautiful park, the
old houses and the museum. If you don't want to walk - you can go with
the ox-cart, drawn by the 6 year old ox Orvar. (Lunch is served in the
restaurant at 1 p.m.)
3 p.m.
The "Vasaakt�rerna" from Tomelilla perform the play "N�rr M�ns Nilssons
Ongar Agde Ti Amerika" (When the Kids of M�ns Nilsson went to America).
A true story about a family from the Kivik area and their adventures
in the United States of America at the end of the 19th and beginning
of the 20th century.
5 p.m.
The male choir of Rickarum sings Swedish songs, songs to the national
flag and together with them we sing the Swedish national anthem.
During the whole day:
Sk�nes Genealogiska F�rbund - the Sk�ne Federation of Genealogical
Societies shows us the big data base of emigrants 1850-1900 from Sk�ne
to the whole world, especially to USA
The Swedish Institute of Emigrants, V�xj�, sells their books. The G�rds
H�rad's association of home district - G�rds H�rads Hembygdsf�rening
shows us the park, sells books and holds a lottery.
