| If you are just trying to contact the hotel, telephone, but tell
the telephone operator that you require language assistance. The
phone company (well, AT&T, anyway) has translators available.

| Thanks. Yes I have called the Hotel and left a message. Unfortunatly
the telephone company in Australia is a government body. "Language
assistance" - your joking :^).
Although I was able to leave a message (I think), the hotel operator
spoke some English, I wasn't able to establish whether or not they
had a fac. machine.
The reason for all of this fuss by-the-way was because last week
I proposed to their daughter. We wanted them to hear about
it from me first - not from some distant relative or read about
it in the newspaper.
I know it is a bit far fetched from this notes file but I was running
out of ideas and these common interest notes have many benefits.

| Call them again (the hotel). They are bound to have English speaking people
available even if the operator doesn't do so well.

| All is well!
They called home last night from Leningrad. Although it was a terrible
line. I managed to do the deed, and asked them for their blessing
for wedding their daughter.
Now I have sent a fax (letter) to a friend in London who will have
it delivered to their hotel along with a bottle of bubbly. It probably
doesn't hurt to do a bit of PR with your pending in-laws.
