I grew up in that area (Skellefte) and there are a lot of nice places to
visit there. I personally think that the interesting things are hard to
find if you don't contact the local tourist information or have somebody
show them to you.
Along the coast you find (among others) Ume, Skellefte, Pite, Lule.
Ume, Skellefte and Lule have got good flight connections with Stockholm.
The distances between these cities are approximately. U-S 130km, S-P 80 km,
P-L 50 km.
The summer is short and intensive so the date you are planning to visit
"Norrland" (the northern part of Sweden) is very important. In June, July
and August the water temp. varies between 59-75 F (15-25 C) depending on
where you are and how the wind is blowing. The water temp. depends more
on the wind directions than the air temp. and is usually higher at the end
of the summer. I should say that most of the time it's below 68F.
The most famous beach is probably "Pite Havsbad" but there are a lot of
smaller (and perhaps nicer beaches along the coast).
I think that if you write some letters (in English) to Sweden asking for
general information and use the following addresses you will get answers
back in a couple of weeks. Turistinformation = Touristinformation and they
should be able to give you more information about places to visit etc

There should be a zip-code on the third line before the city name but I
only know the code for Skellefte (931 00) and mail usually gets delivered
anyway.
Other altenatives include:
* Call me (415) 688-6843, (415) 325-2775
* I'll forward your specific questions to a friend in Skellefte if I can't
answer them.
