    From today's Boston Globe:
    
         Norman von Rosenvinge, a lawyer and representative of
         Boston's Danish community for almost 40 years, died
         unexpectedly Saturday in a Gloucester nursing home.  He
         was 78.
         
         Mr. von Rosenvinge served as honorary Danish vice consul
         in Boston, later working as a consul and consul general
         until his retirement in 1980.
         
         He was awarded the Order of the Dannebrog, the highest
         civilian honor awarded by the queen of Denmark, for
         representation and promotion of Danish culture, people
         and industry.
         
         Mr. von Rosenvinge attended the University of Alabama
         and Bowdoin College.  He also is a 1934 graduate of the
         Boston University Law School.
         
         He joined the Coast Guard in 1942, serving for two years
         in the North Atlantic.  He spent two years in Greenland
         as an ice observer and flag secretary for the Greenland
         Patrol and received a commendation from Adm. Richard Byrd.
         
         After World War II, Mr. von Rosenvinge remained in the
         Coast Guard Reserve and served for 16 months as a legal
         officer in Boston during the Korean conflict.
         
         He was honorably discharged as a commander in 1952 and
         returned to his private law practice.
         
         He was a member of the Harvard Club of Boston and the
         Boston Tennis and Racquet Club.
         
         He leaves his wife, Deborah (Gilbert); four sons, Tycho
         of Bowie, Md., Christian of New York City, Jannik of
         Gloucester, and Steffen of Rockport; two daughters, Trina
         of Rockport and Deborah of Washington; and six grandchildren.
         
         A memorial service will be announced later.
