227.0. "Where is (was?) Hammil, Sweden?" by CADSYS::INSINGA (Aron K. Insinga) Mon Aug 03 1987 21:18
I haven't been able to find a very good map of Sweden, so I was hoping that
someone reading this conference would be able to help me. I'm trying to find
where Hammil, Sweden is. (If possible, what ln it is in.) The reference
to Hammil is about an ancestor of mine who was born there in 1615/1617, and I
don't know if that is a 17th century spelling, or the current spelling.
Thank you.

227.1 | Could it be Hammelen? | STKOFF::SKORDBY | | Tue Aug 04 1987 11:34 | 8 |
| I have checked a few sources but no one has been able to find a
place called Hammil. There exist a Hammelen in the south of Sweden
(in Skne) though, and a Hammel in Denmark.
Are you really sure about the spelling?

227.2 | Thank you! | CADSYS::INSINGA | Aron K. Insinga | Tue Aug 04 1987 14:19 | 4 |
| No, I am not sure about the spelling. Hammelen sounds very close.
I will have to check with a cousin, who has the "raw data."
Tack s mycket!
