    'Der Spiegel' has revealed that several thousand people have been
    sterilized on orders from government medical officials in Sweden
    since WWII. This practice has been going on into mid-seventies, though
    the associated 'racial hygiene' law was repealed in 1969.
    
    Sufficient grounds for sterilization were even minor mental
    deficiencies, 'asocial' behaviour (as defined by the government
    social workers) etc. The 'asocial' group included many Gypsies.
    
    One of the victims was a man who applied for a welders job
    (about 20 years ago, he was 20). He head to take a medical
    examination before getting the job; the doctors sent him to
    a mental hospital because of his 'asocial' behaviour (he had been
    unemployed for some time, and had a child but wasn't married).
    They promised to release him from the hospital if he had himself
    sterilized.
    
    What say? Wouldn't this method be a good way to solve a lot of
    today's problems? Like sterilizing anyone living on welfare money,
    to prevent him/her from producing more asocial persons living on
    welfare? (See also 469.*).
