Explosion Shakes Military Munitions Depot
STOCKHOLM, Sweden (AP) - A series of explosions shook a military
munitions depot south of Stockholm today, military officials said.
There were no immediate reports of injuries. The blasts uprooted trees,
damaged a transformer and rattled windows in a police station 10 miles
away. Officials said no one was at the depot at the time.
"The depot holds ammunition of such a kind that we see risks for
further explosions," Lt. Col. Claes Holmgren told Swedish radio report.
Lt. Col. Inge Lihufvudh said the depot contained handguns, machine guns
and automatic carbines, among other materiel. "Before we allow
personnel into the area we have to make a very thorough search of the
terrain. It is very likely we'll find lots of undetonated ammunition
around," said Ms. Lihufvudh.
Experts were to fly to the site once the blasts subsided. The depot is
located near Jarna, a town 30 miles south of Stockholm.

More news about the explosion! At the news here in Sweden (Thursday 21:00 local time in Sweden) I heard that the explosion was caused by intruders who probable tried to get in to the store. Four Arrested in Munitions Depot Explosion
STOCKHOLM, Sweden (AP) - Three men and a woman have been arrested in
the Nov. 26 explosion of a military munitions depot, police said
Sunday.
The explosion at the unguarded depot outside Jarna near the town of
Sodertalje, 30 miles south of Stockholm, destroyed 18 tons of
ammunition, mines and other ordnance. No one was injured.
Sodertalje Police Commissioner Anders Nelin told a news conference
investigators considered the case solved with the arrests, made in the
Stockholm area over the weekend. He said "a few" of the suspects
confessed.
Nelin said also under suspicion is a fifth man under arrest in the
Netherlands and and a sixth person in custody elsewhere in Sweden. The
suspects were also suspected of robbing weapons, ammunition and
explosives from the depot before the explosion. None of the suspects
were identified. A Swedish news agency report said all six were Swedish
citizens with criminal records.
