The Copenhagen newspaper Berlingske Tidende described Denmark's annual
Danish-American Fourth of July celebration at Rebild in Jutland as a
``festival of friendship.'' This year the festivities had Maureen
Reagan, the president's daughter, as speaker. Her father spoke there in
1972.
[This tradition began as a way to befriend American servicemen during
one of the World Wars. Does anyone recall whether it was WW I or II?]
