Anyone know of a bookstore in the Boston area which
sells Scandinavian books, dictionaries, magazines, etc...

You can get dictionaries and grammars (for most languages) at

	Schoenhof's Foreign Books,
76A Mt. Auburn St. Cambridge, MA 02138.
	Telephone (617) 547-8855

I didn't see any Swedish literature last time I was there.

There is a Swedish-language bookstore in New York City. I think it's
called the Swedish Book Nook. The Swedish Consulate could probably
tell you more.

Ticenor (sp?) library subscribes (by air) to Dagens Nyheter, the
major Swedish newspaper. They're in Harvard Yard, next to Widener
library. They don't notice non-students wandering in, but they're
only open during weekdays. I vaguely remember not finding recent
issues during the summer when the university's closed.

The main branch of the Boston Public library subscribes (by sea
mail) to Dagens Nyheter. They also have a few Swedish books. (This
information is 10 years old and should be confirmed.)

Finally, there is a Swedish book-circle (20 members buy one book
each, which then circulates) which would give you contact with
recent literature. You can contact Sylvia Bullock, (617) 235-6463
for details. She can also tell you about a local Swedish-language
newsletter, Gult och Bltt i Boston.

Martin.

A reasonable bet is Schoenhof's in Harvard Square. Besides
walk-in, they do quite a bit of mail order. Their Scandinavian
offerings are a lot smaller than their French, German, etc.
All their books are new and generally expensive.

There is one good thing you can say for a book. It does not interrupt
at the most interesting part for a word from the sponsor.

It is a good book when it is opened with expectation, and closed
    with delight and profit.

For many books the backs and covers are by far the best parts.
