369.0. "Ada 9X status, looking good!" by PEON::BRETT () Fri Nov 05 1993 14:35
Dear All,
I have been constantly on the road for the last month, and
would like to update you on my view of how things are going.
The new Assistant Secretary of Defense, Mr Emmet Paige, is
extremely supportive of Ada. I believe you will not only
see the Ada mandate stay but it WILL BE ENFORCED. The
Navy has had some changes in personnel. Adm Tuttle has
retired (or will be soon) so I think you will see more support
there as well.
Tucker and I briefed the ARPA folks last week. It went very well.
They are open minded about Ada 9X. We are also briefing
the 3-star Army General next week at his request. I have had
calls from high level NASA and NOAA people. They are very interested
in Ada 9X (vs C++) and would like to hear more.
Also if you have not seen the new issue (Nov) of Software Development
Magazine, by all means get a copy. Ada 9X is on the cover and it
is a wonderful (and accurate) article-- and honest, I didn't pay
anyone to do it!
The bottom line is I think we are doing well. I think we are
"rounding the corner" and I expect us to finish with flying colors.
Chris
