| Rachel is now in a hidden area. LMOPOST (11.852) is the gateway.

| Clearly it's not LMOPOST (too long). It's LMOPST.

| Mea culpa. Unix kind of spoils you, I guess.

351.4 | Who's Supporting GALILEO ? | JUDYL::SWARTZ | | Tue Mar 09 1993 14:58 | 20 |
| RE: .2, .3. Thanks for the information
on how to access the kit.
I managed to copy over the GALILEO kit and I created
a simple .BNF and was able to get a sample
of my script parsed by the parser.
The question I've been asked by someone within
my group is: Is GALILEO supported by someone
within the corporation ?. Obviously, Bill
Barabash was the maintainer as indicated by
several topics in this notesfile and the
GALILEO notesfile. As I mentioned in .1 Bill
has not responded to any of my e-mail and
voice mail messages. So before I go off
and build a complicated language using GALILEO
I'd really like to know if someone out there
is providing support.

| If your application is complex, you might want to check Cocktail. It's
a compiler development package much more powerful than GALILEO, and
somewhat supported (though almost free).
Available e.g. on DECWRL::"/pub/plan/gmd/".
And then, of course, there's Bison and flex.

351.6 | Where's Bison and Flex ? | JUDYL::SWARTZ | | Thu Apr 08 1993 16:35 | 46 |
| I did the usual search of the conference and could'nt
find any reference.
1. Can someone tell me where I can pickup Bison and Flex.
2. Has anyone in the company done a comparision of
Bison and Flex vs Cocktail vs Galileo. Even a simple
comparision ? Or can someone point me to another
conference where there has been some discussion of
the advantages/disadvantages for each of these tools.
Since, the GALILEO conference seems to be in-active at
this time and Bill Barabash has not responded to my
e-mail maybe this is the best place to ask GALILEO
questions.
The application I'm working on has three input files
as follows:
1. Device Configuration File.
Provides a description of the devices (disks)
available on the test system and provides
pointers to one or more device descriptor
files.
2. Device Descriptor
Provides information about the disk structure.
3. Test Description
Describes a performance test to execute.
Can I write three separate GALILEO .BNF files, one
for each input file and then use these three in the
same application... selecting the appropiate parse
table based upon the input file the application has
opened ?
Or do I have to combine the .BNF files into a singular
file ?
