166.0. "Need help in using VAX SCAN" by SEMI::RAO () Tue Feb 23 1988 17:31

Recently I came across a VAX SCAN manual. I have to write a small
program to do template processing, and SCAN seems to be a good
candidate for it. Anyone out there who has done programming in
VAX SCAN ? I would like to know what is the best way to go about
writing a program in VAX SCAN. Any pointers to conferences,
books & other sources of information will be useful.

    Thanks,

    /Ravi

The VAX SCAN conference is at CLT::SCAN. You can use KP7 from Notes
to add that conference to your notebook.

The general listing of conference is in TLE::EASYNET_CONFERENCES.
Topic #2 of that conference is an organized summary of all the
conferences that are announced in subsequent notes in the
EASYNET_CONFERENCES conference. In particular, one of the replies
to topic 2 is dedicated to language processors. VAX SCAN should
be listed there, along with (most) all the other language products.
That note is the first place to look in order to find conferences
    on VAX language products.

If SCAN is installed on a system you have access to, you can also look
in sys$examples under the SCAN directory.

Personally I think SCAN is a slick langauge, although a bit hard to
get used to at first.
