139.0. "Wanted: Syntax errors in Ada programs" by TLE::MEIER (Bill Meier - VAX Ada) Thu May 14 1987 15:58
I'm interested in collecting a set of syntax (not semantic) errors that people
make, to see how the compiler and/or LSEDIT can be improved. Anything goes here;
missing reserved word(s), misspelling, any sort of funny syntax you typed in
"naturally", "silly" mistakes, etc. I only need a piece of the program, or an
example, and not a fully compilable source.
Please MAIL your error(s) to TLE::MEIER, and please include the following
information if possible (if you don't have time, just report what you can):
1) Was the compiler error diagnostic clear, or cluttered with other compounded
errors?
2) Did you use LSEDIT?
(rest don't apply if 2) is NO)
3) Did LSEDIT (in review mode) suggest a correction?
4) If (3) was it correct and/or did you "accept" its correction?
Example:
produre X is -- misspelled reserved word
begin
null;
end;
1) Yes; clear diagnostic
2) Yes
3) Yes
4) Yes
(but of course I'm more interested in the cases where 1, 3 or 4 are NO).
