Hi I wonder if anyone ever heard of a language called CARL (or maybe KARL) I am going to a customer who has piles of the stuff running on GEAC computers (?) and is considering VAX or TANDEM. Any info, similarities to other languages etc. would be gratefully received. If anyone has done any conversions then I'd really like to hear from you. It's very early days in this sale but forewarned is forearmed. Thanks Andrew Dodd

125.1 | I wrote a compiler for KARL! | CSSE32::SIEBOLD | Thomas M. Siebold -- Dollar's and Sense | Thu Jan 22 1987 09:42 | 18 |
-< CARL/KARL >- Well, during 1977 to 1978 I wrote a compiler for a language called KARL as my masters. This was at the university of Karlsruhe, West Germany. The language name stands for KARL = KArlsruhe Register Language. It is (was) a language to describe hardware at the register transfer level. It looked much like PASCAL. The inventor is Mr. Hartenstein now at the University of Kaiserslautern. If your KARL is the same as the one I worked on, then I believe it has been enhanced for sure in the meantime. I still have my theses, but no other material regarding this language. Hope this helps! Regards Thomas PS: If there is more help needed, please phone me at DTN 381-2800. |
