66.0. "Coding Standard Notesfile" by LATOUR::RMEYERS () Tue Jun 18 1985 17:10
The Software Tools Review Board is considering funding a project to
update the VAX-11 Software Engineering Manual. This manual, first
written in 1976 and last revised in 1977, is the source of much of the
coding style used at DEC today: the standard routine header comments,
formatting of different statements, indentation styles, etc.
In order to provide "grassroots" input to the revision of the manual,
as well as to just promote discussion, a new NOTES file has been
created:
ADVISE""::SYS$NOTES:PROGSTNDS.NOT
Probably the largest change being contemplated for the manual is the
creation of standards for additional programming languages (eg, C, ADA).
Feel feel to make suggestions about coding style to the notesfile.
