| Why is it that in all but the Digital entry they misuse "l" to mean "1"?

| I'm sending information I got in the mail a day or two ago about an Ada
from Verdix Corp. to Bevin. (They used an ACM address list, so maybe he
will get the info directly).
The Ada isn't validated yet, and they can't supply the code generator,
but you can upgrade to a compiler that generates code later on, and if
you sign a license before they validate, you get 25% off.

The Verdix stuff was interesting - they are targetting Ultrix, amongst others..

| I have just got nice printed information from TeleLOGIC, a company
related to swedish PTT that says:
TeleSoft-Ada for VAX/Unix Systems
o TeleSoft-Ada compilations may be hosted and targeted under Unix.
o Full integrated with the Unix file system.
o TeleSoft-Ada programs may make Unix system calls
o Tools are available for crosscompiling Ada programs for the MC68000
to be executed from ROM (not under Unix) under Tele-Soft's
Run-time System
o Complete Documentation and support are available
..
...
I understand that TeleLOGIC, Sweden is doing the codegenerator for
generating code

Bob and I had lunch today with Dennis Turner and Jim Schell from CENTACS
at Ft. Monmouth, and with some GSG people. Jim and Dennis are monitoring
and/or funding the Softech Ada effort. ###########################

Dennis told me that Softech plans to pre-validate in a couple of weeks
and wants to validate in the VMS KAPSE environment in November before
ACVS 1.5 becomes effective. He said they are having trouble reaching
their 400 lpm compile speed goal. He also mentioned that it took them
200 CPU hours on a 780 to run the 1.4 C tests.
He asked a number of questions about resource requirements, support for
optional features, library implementation, optimization, etc. At the
end he made the comment that he had expected to hear that DEC was missing
something major and was surprised at the completeness of the implementation.
He said it was likely that the army would buy a lot of VAX ADA compilers
before the ALS reached a sufficient level for production use.
