28.0. "4th/5th Generation Languages" by XENON::STANSBURY () Fri Sep 14 1984 08:55
There has been a lot of talk recently in computer magazines about 4th and 5th
generation languages. Is a good definition of what a 4th and a 5th generation
language is? How do they differ from 3rd generation languages? Could Datatrieve
be considered a 4th generation language? What about APL? Ada?
Since some companies in Japan appear to be working on the next generation
languages, are there any groups in DEC working on these?
What is the future of 3rd generation languages? How long will they be around?
