1239.0. "Visual Fortran on Alpha ?" by BULAN::dhcp31.soo.dec.com::. () Tue Mar 25 1997 10:20

Hi,

I have got several questions from customers about Visual Fortran for
Windows NT on Alpha.

What is the answer to this ?

I surely hope this won't be long because we have enough problems with
ISV's that only support WNT on Intel.

Best regards

1239.1This is covered on the Digital Fortran Web siteSUBPAC::FARICELLITue Mar 25 1997 11:1815
This is from the Q&A section of Visual Fortran on the Digital Fortran
   Web site:

Q. Does DIGITAL plan to offer an Alpha version of DIGITAL
              Visual Fortran?

A. DIGITAL has been shipping DEC Fortran for Windows NT on Alpha
Systems for over two years. DIGITAL will be replacing this Fortran 77
product with DIGITAL Visual Fortran later this calendar year. The
Alpha and Intel versions of DIGITAL Visual Fortran will be combined
   in a single shrink-wrap package.

The web site states a ship date of mid-April. Some partners have been told that
the Alpha version will not be shrink-wrapped with this release. Only Intel will
ship. Can someone please confirm that this is NOT true. That both versions of
DVF will ship together in mid-April.

Thanks.

1239.31st DVF is Intel only; Alpha is coming alongTLE::WHITLOCKStan WhitlockWed Mar 26 1997 14:419
DVF v5.0 that ships mid-April is the Intel version only. It will not contain
any Alpha version.

We are working on the Alpha version now that we have the Alpha IDE and VC++ v5.0
for Alpha. It will be field tested starting soon and is planned to ship in
late summer-1997. That version will have both the Intel and Alpha versions
in one kit, on one CDrom.
