963.0. "Suggestion for breakpoint window" by CXXC::MJHANS (Matthew Hanselman, DEC C/C++) Thu May 29 1997 17:13
A suggestion for the breakpoint management window for the "overhauled"
GUI:
I was just debugging something, and had acquired 15 breakpoints, some
enabled, some disabled, etc. It was a mess to search through the
breakpoints to enable some, disable some, etc.
UIs going in to Windows NT and 95 have data organized by both row and
column; clicking the column header alternately sorts the rows in
ascending and descending order (see the Windows NT task manager for a
ready example of this).
It occurred to me this would be extremely useful for breakpoint
management -- be able to sort by file name, by function name, by
breakpoint number, etc. I'll leave it up to you to see if there are
any other areas where this would also work.
I looked at Visual C++ 4.0, and this was not in there; I haven't tried
Visual 5.0 or any other vendor's product.
