HI all, I've been contacted by a customer who complains about dxladebug hangs. The hang happens quite in a random way while debugging programs accessed via NFS on a remote host. When the hang happens, it blocks the whole graphical activity on the AlphaStation on which the debug session is running.(i.e. no way to pull up a window and kill dxladebug task). The only thing to do is telnet from another system to the alphastation, and kill the dxladebug process. The workstation is an AlphaStation 255 4/233 with 128 MB ram, Digital Unix V4.0A and decladebug V4.0-23. Can installing a newer version of Ladebug help? If yes, where to find the kit? I need help to solve this situation, customer is at his first experience with Digital Unix being an old HP customer and he's quite disurbed by this problem that prevents him to debug his code. We'd like to move him from HP-UX to Digital Unix/AXP, and the reliability and the robustness of the software developing environment is a critical factor for this. HELP!! Thanks in advance Angelo

Trying a newer kit might help, but it is hard to know without more information. See note 2.last in this conference to get the latest kit. We would be willing to do more investigation if we can either get the application or access to the customer's system. Out of curiousity, is the NFS server also a Digital UNIX machine? Yes, please try out the new kit. Did this happen while the application is waiting for an io? If so, please try to invoke dxladebug with -iow option which will direct all io to a io window. Wanfang |
