Here's an extract from ALPACRT05_070.RELEASE_NOTES
o Many DEC C Runtime Library routines (fwrite in particular) are
mistakenly REENABLING AST delivery in the case where it was
disabled on entry to the routine.
A software developer I'm working with says that they have this problem on 6.2
but not on 6.2-1H1 or 6.2-1H3. Application of this patch (and its VAX
counterpart) took care of this problem on their V7.0 systems. Any chance of
getting a similar patch for V6.2?

This fix was included in ALPACRT06_062 and VAXACRT06_062. I simply
cannot explain how the release note was omitted.
