Hi, My customer has OpenVMS V7.1 and DECC v5.5 (5.5-002). He found a problem with the "fcvt" function which could solve with a "home workaround". He wants to know where can he find the eco which is mentioned in the CC055.RELEASE_NOTES. "o An ECO kit is available to fix problems with printf and fcvt IEEE floating point". We read the release notes but it doesn't say where to find it and 5.5-003 RN don't mentioned the "fcvt" function problem. Thanks. Victor G.

Victor, I looked at the release notes that you mentioned and found that particular note. Since the fcvt function is a runtime library function, I then looked into the release notes for the runtime library ECO kits. What I found is that the IEEE fcvt functions were indeed broken in OpenVMS V6.1. The fix was made in OpenVMS V6.2 and an ECO kit released for OpenVMS V6.1. There are no known problems in the fcvt function on OpenVMS V7.1. Could your customer please provide more information on this problem or perhaps open an IPMT case detailing the problem? Duane Smith |
