    Hi Ed,

    I've a customer who reports the same behavior with DEC C V5.5 on an
    Alpha V7.1 system. Is there an ECO kit in the offing?

    Thanks,
    Mary

   In the offing? Nope. But there is an ECO kit available. :-)
   (DEC C V5.5-003 has been available for a while now, and it does
   happily compile the code listed in .0 under OpenVMS Alpha V7.1.)

    Hi Steve,

    Yup, I saw the 3.44 note -- but our TIMA group doesn't have the kit.
    If they can put it into SSB distribution, it will more readily
    available to DSN/DIA/WIS customer access. I know that some Engineering
    groups get their kits into TIMA distribution, and others don't. Is
    DEC C in the latter group?

    Thanks again!

    Note 3.44 is a pointer to the SSB distribution -- the customers should
    see it the next time they receive a DEC C kit (LP distribution kit),
    and internal folks can pull a copy directly from the reference site.
2060.6Not SSB as far as we knowCXXC::REPETERich Peterson 381-1802 ZKO2-3/N30Wed Mar 26 1997 18:515
Steve, where did this info come from? The pointer in 3.44 is to
an internal kit that sends installation notification mail, and
is not identical to what would go to SSB. The SSB version of
this kit is supposed to be in the process of being reviewed
by CSC now, for submission to TIMA.

:Steve, where did this info come from?

   My obviously incorrect assumption that the internal kit mentioned
   in 3.44 indicated there was a fixed C compiler external kit "in the
   pipe" to either/both SSB or to CSC. That (internal) kit has been
   out for a while now -- apparently the "pipe" is unusually long...

2060.8Yes, a long pipe.CXXC::REPETERich Peterson 381-1802 ZKO2-3/N30Mon Mar 31 1997 16:444
The length was at this end, trying to connect to the right official pipe
to get it into. The kit has now been successfully evaluated at CSC and
has gone back to STD_204 for entry in TIMA. The hope was that that
process would go pretty quickly, like a couple of days.
