1566.0. "Using FIND in DEC MAILworks" by CHOWDA::GLICKMAN (writing from Newport,RI) Wed Apr 02 1997 16:56

This site is running DEC MAILworks 1.3 and TeamLinks 2.7.

Management came to us to gather mail messages for several users
from backups and restore them to a location that these users
can search for messages they might have deleted.

We have been restoring weekly backups from the last year and searching
via TeamLinks for TO:, CC:, and BCC: as well as TITLE and TEXT.

I was trying to figure a way to use the VAX and DEC MAILworks to
do the searching via a command procedure.

The problems I have run into in DEC MAILworks are:

Is there anyway to do a FIND for TO:, CC: and BCC:?

Also, is there anyway to search the WASTEBASKET (or the messages that
are tagged for delete) as that is exactly where the message is that
    the user is looking for.

    Definitely appreciating any responses...

Using the VT component, there is no way to FIND on the TO,
CC or BCC fields. Also, a FIND cannot be done in the WASTEBASKET.

One suggestion about searching in the WASTEBASKET would be to
move the entire contents of the WASTEBASKET into a temporary
folder. Once the search is complete, delete the temporary folder.
