Hello
broadcast problem has not been mentioned for a log time
here is another one
customer configuration:
Pathworks/W95/TeamLinks Mail Clients connected to NT-Server (PDC)
Message Router v3.3 - Mailworks 1.3 on VAX/VMS V5.5-2 (BDC)
Broadcast does not work as is expected (pop-up new mail notification)
Broadcast option has been set up correctly - shows up in the task line
somewhere in this conference I found a notification setup-guide.
PCs don't have WINRCV loaded as customer has been told that broadcast
does not work under NT (I could not verify)
does new mail notification work in this configuration or does it not?
if yes - what does the customer have to do ?
regards
Artur

The broadcast facility only works if the client and server can pass the
connection to the clients mailbox for notification. Things to check
first.
1. Is the PC registered in the nodes list or host file on the server?
2. If the client is connecting with WinSockets then can you make a
Telnet connection from the server? ($ Telnet PCname.Hostname 2020)
3. If the client is connecting with Decnet then can you make a Decnet
connection from the server? ($ copy tt: pcname::"202=")
4. Can you loop or ping the server from the client?
5. Sometimes a router or network security will keep notification from
working.
