Don't know if this is the right notes conference or not. For performance reasons my customer is considering moving the A1MAIL$LIBRARY and MUAS$SERVER directories to a different disk than they currently reside on. What is the best way to go about doing this? A new installation? But we would want to keep old information. Also note, we want least impact on users (including time down for such a change). Appreciating any comments.

1538.2 | Can the move be that easy?? | CHOWDA::GLICKMAN | writing from Newport,RI | Wed Feb 19 1997 16:30 | 18 |
From node 582 >>> To move the A1MAIL$LIBRARY, A1MAIL$TEST and MUAS$COMMON >>> directories you need to modify the following command >>> procedures: >>> SYS$STARTUP:A1MAIL$STARTUP.COM >>> SYS$STARTUP:MUAS$STARTUP.COM Can it be that easy? Including doing a BACKUP of the A1MAIL$LIBRARY, A1MAIL$TEST and MUAS$COMMON directories?? The customer is concerned. They are concerned as well about having DEC MAILworks down while the BACKUP is being done -- a time period where they might miss some mail. I suggested at some off hour. Any comments on their concerns?? Thanks. |
