1831.0. "Alpha DEBUG V7.1 unable to debug TT.EXE" by CSC32::D_SANFORD () Fri Jan 31 1997 13:09
OpenVMS Alpha V7.0, OpenVMS Alpha DEBUG Version V7.0-02R
OpenVMS Alpha V7.1, OpenVMS Alpha DEBUG Version V7.1-000
Just to pick on the debugger when you have nothing better to do...
Alpha DEBUG V7.1 has changed behavior, with previous versions
you are able to run an image:
TT.EXE
When using multi-process debugging, the program will execute and
finally hang. You must then ^Y to abort the process. To duplicate
just rename any image to TT.EXE and run it. In some cases I was
unable to get the process to return control to DCL.
To work around the problem simply rename the image to something
other than TT.EXE or use the logical:
$ DEFINE DBG$PROCESS NONE
Remember you must specify the EXE extension when compiling, linking
and running the image because VMS defines a logical for TT, for
example:
$ RUN TT.EXE
Do we want to fix this problem? Almost as bad as defining a logical
for TRACE, but we did change behavior.
Regards, Drew Sanford
