4087.0. "Dried Cherries???" by BRAT::VINCENT () Tue Mar 12 1996 12:48

    Does anybody know where you can find Dried Cherries? A friend is
    looking for them for a Cherry Almond Fudge and cannot locate them.

    It would help to know where you're located.

    Idylwilde Farms in West Acton, Mass carries them.

    I'm sorry. We are located in the Merrimack, NH area. She just found
    some at Earthward, in Milford NH. Very costly $8.00 for an 8 ounce
    package. Is that what they usually go for? Why are they so much?

    We'd still be interested in other places in the area.

4087.3fresh are expensive tooSMURF::CCHAPMANThu Mar 14 1996 11:507
    I suspect that the high cost of the dried is in line with the high
    cost of fresh, even in season. If, once a year, you can get a good
    buy on fresh ... then use a dehydrator to make your own. This is for
    longer term planning and of absolutely no help right now.

    William-Sonoma mail order carries them, although I think they are also
    on the expensive side. You can get their number from 1-800-555-1212.
    Also, check in any local "gourmet" food or kitchen shops. I know I've
    seen them in several of these types of stores all over the place.

    You can find a variety of dried cherries and other dried fruits at
    Bursey's on Route 101 in Wilton. The dried fruits can be expensive but
    the quality is very high.

    Did you ever pit a cherry? I have a cherry pitter, so I have. When I
    think of the work required to pit them, I can understand the high
    price! Although I should think that companies that dry cherries
    probably have a better way to pit them! ;-)
