| I have the same problem! I have loads of old cooking magazines,
Gourmet, Food&Wine, Bon Apetit, etc. that date back to the early 70's.
Like you in HLO, I'm hard pressed to throw them away- I'm willing to
bring them into the NYO (New York City) facility if anyone is
interested. Contact me - dtn 352-2867 - if you're interested.

| Call your local library. The one in our town takes donations of old magazines
and books in good condition, and has a "yard sale" a few times a year to help
support the library.

| Or donate them to a local pre-school or kindergarten who would use them
with the kids to make collages, etc.

I would love to accept old gourmet cooking magazines like Gourmet, Bon
Appetit, Cooking Light, Food & Wine et al if anyone wants to get rid of
them. I'm not sure about Family Circle (never read one).
I live by LKG and I work in HLO and PKO. Let me know how I can pick them
up...

| this got me thinking.....
I'm trying to set up scanning and OCR, etc. If I had it done I would
scan in the good recipes from old magazines, OCR them and set up a
data base so they could be retrieved by a number of ways. Having the
image too would allow me to print out the article in its original form.
I could then print a collection of recipes and articles to create a
simple to find collection on a subject, Storage would be easier and I
could even go in and make on line modifications to the recipe as it
suited me.
that would be better than having the million recipes on a CD that I
currently have.
a daydream, about on par with having one excellent meal a day. I'd
settle for one a week.
