3927.0. "BREAD: Oatmeal Molasses" by GMAJOR::WALTER (used to be Aquilia) Thu Apr 07 1994 11:05

I was going to save this recipe for a "family secret" but this file has
been so good to me I figured I should share. :)

Oatmeal Molasses Bread - yield 2 loaves
    ----------------------

    3 T Butter
    1 Cup water
    1 Cup 2% Milk
    1/2 cup warm water
    1 Pkg Yeast
2 Pkgs Maple and Brown Sugar oatmeal
    1 Cup Wheat Flour
    5 Cups White Flour
    1/2 Cup Molasses
    1 t salt

Heat butter, milk and 1 cup of water till boiling. Pour into big bowl
and add oats. Cool to lukewarm.

Disolve yeast in warm water, add to oatmeal mixture. Mix in molasses
    and salt.

(I use dough hooks on my sunbeam mixture)

Add 1 cup of flour at a time to yeast/liquid mixture till mixed. When
flour is mixed and dough no longer sticks to bowl (usually about 6
minutes total kneading time) take out and place in glass bowl that is
greased with Pam and cover for 1.5 hours. Take out, divide in half and
roll into two loaves. Leave loaves (cover them)to rise for about another
    hour.

Preheat oven to 350 and cook for 40-50 minutes. (I usually check at 40
minutes and brush butter over top to give nice shiny glaze).

    enjoy!
